portfolio redone

So I redid my portfolio and I like it more than my previous layout and design but I'm still not sure if it's going to be my final academic portfolio that I submit. I presented what I had today and I hope it went well. I still have a lot of work ahead of me but for now more work on my academic portfolio and working on my process book has to be done!

It's gonna be a long day

I haven't got much done since last class (because of my wild social life :) ) so im planning on spending the ENTIRE evening to stay and get some work done. Tonight I want to get the final look and layout of what the inside will look like so I can start mowing though and getting stuff done. SLUT

i dont know!!!!

ok so have been working on my layout for each page. I decided to incorporate this little cartoon character into each slide and I love the way it turned out now I am still working on how I want to display my work on each individual page.

4.28

I tried to put my logo into a pattern. Also trying to simple my portfolio design. I think my layout is very complex and has no focus point. Work!Work!Work!

Photo Shoot

I am done with the last of my packaging shots. It was kind of a pain but they came out really nice so it was worth it. I'm now finished with dressing up my portfolio projects.
Our last class meeting has helped me get a good idea of what I need to do. I have been trying to rearrange my work by class projects. I am also working on redesigning the brush pattern one of the main elements in the design of my portfolio. I want to avoid anything busy and overwhelming, my projects should be able to stand out. I feel I have a long way to go.
Last class was a definite wake-up-call for me. I thought i was in shape, as far as getting work done, but i learned some things in the last class that i was previously unaware of. I am kind of disappointed because i have my process book complete and ready to print, but it does not correspond with my academic portfolio. So, it looks like i will be redoing this in the coming days.

Since the last class i have reorganized the order of my projects in my portfolio. I really like the idea of organizing it by class. I have also built another mock up of the cover of my portfolio. I want to make sure that it is clean and does not distract from the physical portfolio.

Fork in the road

......So I went straight. I put more emphasis on the reading material and looking at the samples of my peers before committing to a particular idea. I have the motif of my academic portfolio planned out. As mentioned in class I will be including basic design elements that we have learned in class as a background template for my work, The color spectrum, Gridlines, values and tints, etc to make it academic like, lol. Also as mentioned previously Tuesday I will be using various elements to separate my work by color for each section and depending on the value of the particular piece I will add a particular stroke to make it contrast with the background. White trim for black and black trim for predominantly lighter value pieces. Have a good day.

aw mann

Still havent figured out the design element yet for either and it's bugging the crap out of me. Think I need to listen to Beth and just jump right in even if its bad =/ .. I think I found a website to put my portfolio, semi-pricey tho so idk if i'm gona end up goin with this one. Found some older works that I think will go well in the professional portfolio, they DEF need touching up though. That's pretty much it for now, hopefully get some inspiration this weekend.

Forming an Aesthetic

I've finally settled on a direction I'm heading with in my portfolio. I feel that it represents my style perfectly; it focuses heavily on typography, quirky imagery, and creative wording, while still maintaining a lot of breathing room through usage of white space.

I'm treating my portfolio like a neutral gallery wall. On the pages that showcase my work, the design will be extremely minimal so as not to compete with my pieces. But I'm allowing myself to experiment with the pages in between.

Octopi and centipedes may or may not be implemented. (You'll see what I mean.)

In the meantime, I'm still formulating an artist statement. I have placeholder Lorem Ipsum text in the layout at this point.

I can't think of a good way to end this post, so Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. WUT I'VE BEEN DOIN

SINCE OUR PRESENTATION AND SEEING THE WORK OF MY OTHER CLASSMATES IT KIND OF INSPIRED ME TO TAKE MY MATERIAL ANOTHER STEP FURTHER AND MAKE IT EVEN BETTER. AS OF NOW IM WORKING ON MY BOOKLET FOR MY PROFESSIONAL PORTFOILIO. I ALREADY DECIDED WHAT PROMO ITEMS I WANTED TO INCLUDE SO ALL I HAVE TO DO IS ARRANGE THE LAYOUT OF THEM IN A WAY THAT LOOKS OUTSTANDING.

Too Much Work, So Little Time

So ive been playing with the different colors for my academic portfolio. I realize that it was TOO MUCH blue. I want to have some white pages, but still keep the CLEAN and SIMPLE consistency of the academic portfolio. I have also been working on how I am going to arrange the portfolio. I need to print some stuff out, and take some pictures. My goal is to be done with the academic portfolio by the end of the weekend. I also started on my process book. I kept the same consistency as my academic portfolio. On top of all this, im also working on the professional portfolio as well as on the website. There is so much to do, and not that much time to do it. As long as I dont stress out TOO MUCH, everything will get done in time.

REWORKING.....AGAIN :/

So I have been working on my portfolio. After looking at more examples I feel like I have figured out a way to keep the theme consistent but make the book much more simple. I also separated out the process books from my portfolio.  I misunderstood that part and i put them in one book originally. I am trying to stay with the print of the honeycomb, but change the colors and sizes to differentiate between books (according to their purpose). My academic portfolio will have a pink undertone and the process book will have a purple undertone. I think that after a few days of tweaking, things will be pretty close to where i want them so i can start to tackle my professional portfolio as well as my web presence.

Nervous About Project

There are a lot of things that are not really working out for me. For starters Im having a hard time getting the material for my process book :( Im a bit nervous about this. I have decided on a layout for my portfolio.

DESIGN STATEMENT OUTLINE

good link on how to write a design statement :)

Figuring things out

Since last class... I have been working on my portfolio book. I think that I am finally in the right direction in terms of design to the book as well as coming up with type of branding image. I have a good feeling about what I've come up with so far, and I'm excited to see how everything works out in terms of what I will be presenting today.

So far I have a basic portfolio book layout and branding, and all my written works for the portfolio.

Hope you all like it :)

SSSSuper confusing

不知道为什么一直没有办法集中设计. 我想展现我自己独特的一面 但是我却没有办法用我的元素表现出来.很烦躁......如何用排列设计好我的简历呢? I am SSSSuper confusing now. How can I design my portfolio better? How can I use my element well? A lots questions need to fix...

Lotta work

Ok so I've been real busy with this portfolio, I'm making it way harder of a process than it should be. I like how it's coming out though. I finally got all my design pieces in it last night. I drafted a cover letter this morning and finished everything just in time for class today. More to come later...

Progress for Today

I finally have the basic feel and colors picked for the layouts of my portfolios, resume, etc. I hope to finish my academic portfolio and process book this weekend :)

ok???

ok so now I am still finding and piecing together work. I have about 12 I think i just need like a couple more. I found some old papers and I created a resume and cover letter. So that is my deal today to find more work and work on my design statement. My process book is complete.

STEP 1

Well, I got as much done as I possibly can, but feel that I still a whole lot to do. At least I got started on it. I did not get a chance to start on the introductory letter, I have a feel for it, I think I know what I want to do, but might change my mind. I hope this turns out to be good project.

I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.

WHAT I GOT SO FAR

WELL SO FAR I'VE BEEN LOSING SLEEP TRYING TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT, BUT I MANAGED TO GET A LOT DONE. I WISH I HAD ANOTHER DAY BUT I GUESS IT IS WHAT IT IS. TODAY I JUST PUT THE FINAL TOUCHES ON EVERYTHING, AND ALSO MAKING SURE EVERYTHING IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. I HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT.

are done yet?

ok, the stress is only getting worse. I think i fished my cover, I layout what is on each page and I put my resume in the portfolio. I am still struggling with what theme to go with, make it me without making it too girly. I am ready for our presentations and i look forward to seeing where the rest of the class is.

late start

Up until now I have been putting most of my effort and time on reading the course material thoroughly. Hence/therefore my first draft is not all that refined (very rough). The reading and brainstorming up until now has been beneficial and now I feel like I can start making a portfolio.

Long Weekend

Well this was for sure the longest weekend i have ever endured, and not in a good way. Who pulls an all nighter doing homework on a saturday lol. Anywho, I had a lot of work to do. This weekend i reworked several projects, retook mock up photos, assembled my entire process book, and solidified the look of my portfolio. Phew.... not sure if its enough, but i gave it my all!

Huh?

Slightly confused and hoping its going to turn out right, last minute tweaks going down as of now. Couple more things to finish, but the theme isn't quite hashed out all the way. =/ Well got to get it done.

All nighters

So far, i have the concept of my process book done. I know what im going to do, its just a matter of getting it done. With my academic portfolio, I have my cover page along with other pages done. The only problem is that im not convince of it being my best work. I have been working on them for the past week and a half, and its still need some work. I have all night to do it, and hope i can come up with some of my best work. Im just trying to come up with the same team for my entire portfolio, and make it all smooth and original at the same time. AHHH!!!!!! this is going to be one LONG night.

Still workin'

I've got the concept and theme for my portfolio now figured out. I designed the front cover I think it's coming along nice so far.

Weathering the storm

Since last class I've just been working away. I'm still sick so I've been trying to get rid of it but nothing seems to be working. I'm just hoping that I'll be fine by next week. But I'm continuing to work and I've finished my resume. I've been looking around at websites and I don't really like the options I have when it comes to the free sites so it looks like I'm going to fork out some cash for a good website but I don't mind. I do also feel like its very hard to pick a theme for the portfolio. I have several ideas in mind but its hard to just pick one design. Well have a great weekend and good luck on your 1st drafts.

This week

I have been investigating the different components needed to pull together a central theme in displaying my work with in a portfolio. I have chosen the font jf_Ringmaster for an ornate display font and am still looking for a more plain font to pair with this font. I have decided on the three projects that will be addressed in the process book.

bye............ :D

Lay out

I am still design my layout. I want my portfolio look clean and simple, but in my mind are the patterns and complex designs. Also, I am trying to design my logo. Hopefully, I can finish my draft asap...

uh huh!!

I have been still redesigning my projects trying to make them a lot better with the new things I have learned over the years. I went on an interview it went extremely well and now I'm waiting on the phone call saying I got it lol..... now I just need to write my paper on the interview and finish my projects for the first turn in assignment on Monday.

WUT I'VE BEEN UP 2

over the past day or two ive been working on a theme for my for my portfolio. Im thinking about just find one on the web but then again i have a couple ideas in mind that i wanted to try out first. ive also been working on my intro and resume, it looks alright so far but i have a couple of adjustments to make.

Portfolio Inspiration

Throughout my time at Cal State, one of the things that has kept me moving forward as a designer is finding inspiration from outside sources. Seeing work from artists that make me feel like my stuff is complete crap is the best thing I could ever do for myself. Unless I have something to aspire to, I won't have any motivation to improve.

That being said, finding portfolio inspiration has been something that keeps my mentality focused and helps me get a grasp of the competition I'm facing. If you need a boost, I hope this post will help you a bit.

Here are a couple sites for you all to check out (if you're interested):

Happy 4/21 (Recovery day).
I agree with Virginia, this is way harder then it seemed at the beginning. I think once I lock down a theme it will move along a lot faster. Since class i looked and researched other portfolios so I can decide on what to do and get started. I also layout the academic portfolio in indesign with each page labeled.

Post 3

I have been studying the course material and working with a few layouts. I am looking forward to the presentation critic so I can make my portfolio stronger through peer evaluation.

PROGRESS????

This is harder then I thought, coming up with an idea for my portfolio it's difficult. I really don't have a clue yet of what my portfolio will look like. I want to keep my portfolio simple, cohesive and professional. I went on the blurb website and they actually have layouts that you can work out of. It takes you step by step. So I thought that was very helpful now I need to come up with a design. So much to do and so little time. I feel so overwhelmed. I'm starting to stress a lot. I hope it all works out on my first presentation. I'm sure I'll get some feedback, I hope.

WHOOO HOOO!

So since last class I have been really trying to find some kind of inspiration about what I wanted to do for my portfolio. I really want my portfolio to be something I think represents me and displays my skills. I am really excited because I had a break through and I finally figured out what I want to do for my layout. I came up with a few sketches to make sure I keep focus and I think my plan is great. I have been working on my resume and statements and letters. So now I just need to make my sketches a reality, but I'm so pumped that i made this break through. It feels good when a good idea hits you and you can be excited about it.

Progress

I am almost finished touching up my 3 "inception to completion" projects, and have started to write up narratives for those pieces. I have also been working on refining my other projects.

I have a pretty good idea of how I want to lay out my portfolios and process book, so tomorrow I plan to jump into that. I may have to refine the design later (hopefully not much), but I'll feel better once I at least have all of the work merged together into the layouts they need to go :)

Resume Done !

I missed last class, but made sure that i used the time i missed to keep moving along. I feel like these deadlines are coming up quick. So in the last few days i have completed my resume and also began to put together a presentation that i can show next tuesday. The presentation will include my page layouts, but i do not think i will have time to print and bind my project. So i have also put together a page to show what my physical portfolio will look like to be included in my presentation. This is my plan thus far, cant wait to see what everyone else has come up with.

d's update

Currently working on my process book, searching for old art history papers/tests. I've also selected the 3 projects I am going to include.

The website I've decided to go with is carbonmade.com (thanks for the idea Stephanie), which is free and very limited but I have the option to upgrade it later to get my own domain and more project/image uploads.

Doing Work

Well since the last post I've been reading the book and I really feel the reading material is going to help my portfolio to be a strong one and to represent me in the best way possible. I've also been looking for websites but I haven't found anything quite yet because I'm a very picky person. I've also got all the works I want to be in my portfolio, but my beginning works from earlier classes have some work to be done. I've been sick for a couple days so I won't be in class today but I'll be working from home to get more work done.

Fine Tuning

This week I have begun to rework and brainstorm on how to refine my past projects. Also, I have been considering a central theme for my portfolio which would suit and efficiently display my work. This coming week I plan on developing several components necessary for the portfolio to come to fruition.

It goes

I think I have figured out most projects that I want to include in my portfolio, but I'm still not sure. I don't know how so many of you have figured it out already, this is difficult for me.

I have done more research on portfolio, resume, and cover letter designs. I'm focusing on that because I figure the sooner I get an awesome resume, the sooner I'll get an interview. I started tweaking my portfolio by taking out irrelevant information that I had previously considered necessary. I am working on my logo design, and I'm liking what I have so far.

=)

Web Portfolio

So far I have been searching for website options. I found this free and easy to use website, CarbonMade.com, it allows you to create your web portfolio in a simple web design. There is a limit of images you can put up but if you want more options you can upgrade for $12/month. I started mine by uploading some photography work of mine since I am still editing some of my design work.

My domain address is:
infinitebloom.carbonmade.com

The only thing I didn't like is that you have to add carbonmade to the domain address. If this creates a problem for the assignment then I will continue searching.

Im still looking for some work I created back in Graphic Design 1. :/

Recently Works

I collected my works and started to design my portfolio layout. I really want to see others designer's portfolios I think that will be very helpful. I will put some designs into my personal portfolio, I think that it is getting important for a designer know many things; such as 3d design, website design, or photograthy...

Sooo.. Yeah

Ive been really trying to get a grasp on the feel of my portfolio and conveying the type of designer I am and its been a challenge but I think I almost have it down. As far as physical, in the middle of compiling projects I have about 7 and still figuring out the rest. I did get my resume done over the weekend and am glad that's out of the way. For now just chip chip chipping away, hopefully when I look up, the sculpture will be done soon.

The Hunt Begins...

We're required to either visit a museum or get a job interview during this course, and considering my goal is to have a job secured before graduation, I'm obviously opting for the interview.

It's been a while since I've had to job hunt. I remember when I first started at CSUSB I was looking for work like a madwoman. I applied to over 32 places, none of which I heard back from (except for an email from Target that said "Sorry, we're not hiring"...which, if that was the case, what's up with the giant "HIRING" sign next to the automatic door?). Being aware that I was completely overqualified for most of the work I was applying for, I'd made this sketch out of frustration:

This time around it's a little different. I'll have a degree, and the jobs I'm looking for are competitive. I want something with good pay, benefits, and...well, lets be honest...something I can be proud to say I do.

Finding sources for these opportunities has proven to be a bit tough. Right now my search has been purely online, places like SimplyHired.com or Monster.com. But I'm snooping around to see if I can catch wind of somewhere better. (As soon as I know, I'll let you all in on the secret...until you start snatching interviews from me.)

And now, to keep you entertained, a quote from ClientsFromHell.net:

"Can you make the red of that traffic light more red? Google ‘red’ to find different shades."

See you all in class.

where AM I now??

I have started to create my resume and cover letter. I am still working on getting my projects in order but it is a little harder then I would have expected. I recently am going on an interview with a job offer for a graphic designer so as soon as I am done I can start that paper.

Progress Report 1

I have really been trying to set up the foundation of the "look" of my portfolio.
In addition I placed all of the files I want to work on in an organized file system, so I can check them off one by one.
Furthermore the assigned course reading thus far has been very informative. I feel confident my portfolio will be very strong.

Making progress!

This weekend was about writing my personal statement, making my resume and thinking about how I want to lay out my portfolio. I have already updated two of my projects and I've lay out my personal statement and resume. I am currently working on my introduction and I'm trying to be as creative as I can.

So far so good

I'm still touching up projects, I also photographed a piece yesterday that I want to include. I'm getting a better sense of what I want the portfolio to be. I've also created a personal logo to better brand myself. That's all, folks.

WHAT I DID

Over the past couple days i had a few prior engagements i had to deal with but i still managed to get some things done. I did a lot of research on design resume's and portfolios to give me a better idea of how a professional one was suppose to look like. i also continued to touch up some of my work that i wanted to include in my portfolio. The website is alright so far, but don't expect an all out professional one because this is the first site I've ever done; i'm still a beginner. Everything seems to be coming along well. wish me luck

Lots of Ideas

I did a lot over the weekend, worked on my cover letter and resume. My resume needs some work it's too short. The resume I have is over two pages but it's not graphic design related and therefore it's too short. My cover is done but I need some input. I have lots of ideas for my portfolio but can't get it down. Sometimes I wish I can just think of my ideas and it automatically converts my ideas onto the computer, someone should invent that. I just hope I can come up with something chic and innovative that represents who I am as a person and designer. I am still working on editing some of the work, I will be using last quarters projects which were some success not too much to edit, thank goodness.
I didn't have much time this weekend to work on my portfolio but I did think about some things. The web presents will be an online portfolio that I can put on my printed resume so future employers can see work and have an updated view of my work. I also laid out what I want to put in my portfolio and put them into the order in which I want them displayed.

Cohesive Design

I spent more time this weekend researching, looking (and yes, reading :) through the textbooks, and just thinking about how I want my portfolio to come together. I feel slightly behind because I haven't physically started to design my portfolio, but I feel like this planning stage will save me time in the long run. I tend to get ahead of myself and dive right in, only to change my mind later . . . and I want everything to be cohesive, so I know that I need things mapped out ahead of time.

I will be using my three packaging projects from last quarter for my "inception to completion" designs in my process book. I need to photograph my mockups for two of those projects and tweak some of the other things in there, but I'm hoping those designs will need the least amount of attention from me. Plus, I liked those projects, so I know for sure I want to use them :)

I feel like my style has really changed over the projects, which I guess can be a good thing, but I'm still trying to find a way to pull it all together. Oy, lots of work ahead- but as Armando said, "Day by Day." And I'm trying not to stress either :)

Over the weekend

I though a lot over the weekend of what designs i am going to use for my academic portfolio, i brought it down to about 12. I realize that i have work to do, in order to make them as perfect as i want them to be. I have also been looking over the books and the different portfolio ideas, they are all creative. I am not sure what style i am going to go for in my portfolio, but I am hoping for a good one. There is a lot of work to do this week. My goal is not to to stress and just take it day by day.

Thinking outside the box

So I had a long weekend trying to figure out a good way to establish my web presence. I figure once I  figure out how i want to represent myself online, the book design part will fall into place. I have been researching so many different web portfolios and trying to find one that fits my style and what i want to say about me. i have been working with new programs and dabbing into different ideas trying to find a light at the end of this confusing tunnel. So far not too much luck, but i am confident i will figure it out in the end, i really have no choice to.

I will start to rework my projects, but i haven't even touched my book yet. I'm trying to ave  solid direction before i just throw knives in the ark and waste a bunch of time and effort.

That's it from me for now....

Portfolio Design

Over the weekend i began to design my portfolio itself. I made many small models of how i would like it to look, and below is my favorite thus far. The back cover wraps around and folds over the front making one contained package. When open, the inside of the flaps will contain all of the information you would need to know upfront. On flap A i would like to have a short artist Bio, Flap B will contain my resume, and Flap C will have a pocket for a CD with digital files of my work. I plan on continuing to work with this idea, and make improvements, if anyone has any ideas please send them my way.

fun stuff

I've gone through all my old work and have selected 11-15 projects I've decided to include in my portfolio, of course after I make some changes. I think my next step is to draft a cover letter & resume. yay. I've also gotten 2 of the 3 books.

Haven't thought about a url yet.

First Blog

Since the last class I've decided on the projects that will be in my professional and student portfolios. I also went to Barnes and Nobles Tuesday evening and also bought another design portfolio book. I been also researching online at other example to come up with ideas.

...o yeah and missing beth dearly

Progress I can believe in

Thus far I've started going through my old files and weeding out the projects I don't really want to see in my portfolio. Starting tomorrow I'll start going through what is left and pick out the ones I really want.

Also I'm figuring out my url name. I would also like to put another sentence here so that it doesn't seem as if I'm trying to emphasize that last sentence by making it the only one in the paragraph. =)

Yesterday I did a lot of research on writing cover letters and resumes in the design community. I realized I've been doing it terribly wrong for about a year now, which was bittersweet. Time to work on that, too.

Hi :D

I have gone through and chosen close to 15 pieces to be placed in my portfolios this past week. These pieces need different levels of attention and I am excited to see my portfolio come together. I have also been brainstorming as to a name for a url.

-timhill.

Do Work

So I've found about 13-15 projects that I would like to include in my portfolio. I do see a lot of room for improvement on older projects and I do feel like it'd be a lot easier to rework old projects rather than come up with new ones. I do want my portfolio to be a strong reflection of who I am as a designer and student so I've got some work to do to get it up to par but I'm up for the challenge. So it's time to DO WORK.

STAGE 1

I finally decided what projects I am going to include in my portfolio. I must say that all of them need to be edited. I have some artwork I did for Graphic Design 1 and 3 that I cannot seem to find :( I know they were saved on the server but apparently they got erased. I know! I need to be more organized.

I decided to include some work from my internship at Loma Linda University.

I started looking at websites to use for my web presence.

Stage 1

For the stage 1, I found my artworks at csusb. I also found many things of my art works to improve. I was wondering if I can put my photograpy works in my portfolio, because that also another way to show myfself.

WORK WORK WORK

So i have chosen my work, I have about 10-12, not much, but its projects that I have been proud of. Some of these projects need a lot of work. Ill be working on editing the projects today and this weekend, hope to be done by sunday. For the website name, I'm thinking of using Armencia Designs. Armencia is just my first and last name put together. I have work to do this weekend.

Where AM I??

So, I have started finding my 15 projects for my Portfolio and many of them need some work. I am very excited to be doing the work on these projects because I believe that over these years I have learned a lot and I am excited to see how great they are going to be afterwards. I have also been thinking about how I am going to structure my designs and how I am going to make my portfolio scream me. So, I still have a lot of work ahead of me.

The Start to the End!

Stage 1
So far i've been trying to select what projects to use and what can be perfected. I am trying to develop a structure to show my work and for now I am working on my personal statement, on the letter of introduction and my resume. I feel that once I start revising my work the layout design for my portfolios will be easier to create.

(boof boof) is this thing on?

So going through my designs from all the classes, I have some pretty good things to put in the portfolio. Unfortunately some need more work than others lol. Overall I am still proud of the things I have done and even though I am not great yet, I am definitely at a point to where I know my weaknesses and strengths as a designer and am excited about self-recognition because that is the first step towards overall improvement. Let's get to work!

First Post

I have selected 15 designs that I will improve and ultimately place in my portfolio.
I am working on my website.

Getting Started

I'm getting all my design work together and by the looks of it I'm going to be doing a lot of editing. I'm really excited about the class especially the interview part, but a lot of work to be done. I don't have a name for my website yet, but I'll come out with something.

A Bit of Touch Up Work

My 15 projects have been picked and i am really excited to start reworking some of them. It is really exciting to see how far i have progressed since Graphic Design 1. I have decided that i am going to start polishing up some of my latest work, while it is still fresh in my mind, and then work my way backwards.

Below is my Work from Graphic Design 4.

Holistic Hound Dog Food
• I am going to lighten the color of the cardboard texture
• I am going to adjust the color of the logo so that it stands out amongst the rest of the design

Peruvian Choice Instant Coffee
• I plan to change the color of the tree in this particular flavor so that it stands out against the background. Otherwise i am happy with the final result of this project.
• While it may not seem so here, the contrast between the tree and the background is not as strong as it is in the other flavors. I would like them to all have the same contrast.

Get Up and Go Granola
• I want to create a new logo so that it fits better in the given space.

Other than working on these three project i have been trying to think of a domain name. If you think that you can't find one involving your name try having the name Alex Smith. It's a bit generic i know. I am open to suggestions, so send them my way.

We have ignition...

So I've decided on what projects to include and have started touching-up some of them as well. I must say that I enjoy polishing old work much more than creating new work. I've checked into domain names and luckily mine is available, finally having a last name that is unique and awkward to pronounce has paid off. Many a time have I heard my last name butchered.

Domain Name and Update

Like Laura, my name was also taken. SarahWinter.com is an "under construction" site. I thought they would at least have something cool on there if they're going to share my name! So, after much thought I decided to go with SarahWinterDesign.com. I guess now there's another site under construction :)

I've also been looking through my designs and I think I know which ones I'm going to fix up. Other than that, I'm just trying to prepare my resume and letter of introduction.

RESEARCH

So I've pretty much narrowed down what project I plan to redo for my portfolio. I came up with 11-14 pieces that I think really show a range of styles I like to work with. I wanted to offer a rage rather then showing the same thing in my end portfolio. I have been doing research on other graphic designers portfolios to get a beginning idea of what I want to do and what kind of competition I might be facing in the near future.

That pretty much for me for now :)

Go Daddy Sold My Soul

Yes, that's right. According to Go Daddy, LauraBurk.com isn't available to reserve as a domain name for my online portfolio. It's already taken by a company called "Media That Sells", sporting a completely logical logo consisting of a cross and Jesus fish, because Jesus was all about stealing arbitrary domain names from people that might actually need to use them in the future.

http://www.lauraburk.com/

I'm having a tough time settling on a new domain name to use instead. LauraBurkGraphics (seems a bit wordy)? Be bold and create a "company" name? The simpler the better, in my opinion.

I've also decided to upgrade my current portfolio site from the "free" version it utilizes to the more customizeable, streamlined, and ad-free paid version. It's true...I'm actually going to pay for something. I really am growing up.

In the meantime, here's my current web presence so you can see the changes that will be implemented in the near future.
